Poker is a game of chance, skill and strategy. Players place bets with plastic or ceramic discs called chips, which they exchange for money at the end of the game.<\/p>\n
The cards are usually a standard 52-card deck, sometimes with one or two jokers. Typically, two packs of cards are used in most games; the first pack is assembled and shuffled, and the second is dealt with.<\/p>\n
A typical Poker hand consists of two personal cards and five community cards. These are dealt face-up (revealed to the players) at the center of the table. The player with the best hand wins.<\/p>\n
When playing a hand, the players take turns clockwise around the table revealing their hands. Some variants of the game, including Stud, let a player choose not to reveal their hand; however, this choice does not count toward winning a round.<\/p>\n
Players are allowed to fold, check, or call. A fold is a decision to give up all of a player\u2019s chips in the current betting round. A check is a non-bet that does not change the amount of the pot.<\/p>\n
In each betting round, each active player must bet or raise at least the amount of the first bet. If no opponents call a player\u2019s bet or raise, that player wins the pot.<\/p>\n
